Deep-dish pizza is a staple in the Windy City, and The Chicago House Of ‘Za is certainly one of the top vegan pizzerias in the nation. The family-owned restaurant located in the Lake View neighborhood announced it will be closing its doors on June 20, 2020.

The pizza joint started as carryout only with a small menu, no seating or restroom for customers, but the owners Danny and Jammie Gulino, reached their goal in providing tasty vegan food when they opened a large dine-in establishment. The consequences of the pandemic and high costs of running a business in Chicago has forced The Chicago House of ‘Za to shut down. Danny and Jammie plan to serve pizza in the future on a smaller scale, but are unsure of when the opportunity will arise.

The restaurant is known for its vegan Chicago-style deep-dish pizza, made with house-made cashew cheese and seitan. They are open, serving up hot pizza by the slice, as well as beer and wine, all for takeout for the next couple of weeks. Stop in and grab a pie for the family and support a local vegan restaurant.
