Teenpreneur Layla Wallace is the face behind Kalamazoo’s new gourmet cupcake spot, Layla’s Cool Pops (LCP). Located in the Edison Neighborhood, LCP has been serving the Kalamazoo area since 2015. In addition to producing stellar treats, the Black-owned cupcake company sports the tagline “eliminating homelessness one sweet at a time” and supports Layla’s Sweets4Homeless Initiative, a nonprofit effort assisting homeless families in becoming homeowners. If things couldn’t get any sweeter, the business regularly donates treats to local food pantry, Loaves and Fishes.
Along with her huge heart, this empowered go-getter is vegetarian herself. Because of this, Layla is uniquely aware of the dietary needs of her customers. She enjoys experimenting with plant-based ingredients and producing tasty vegan confections. At this time, any of the LCP menu goodies can be veganized but must be special-ordered. The dessert shop also offers a few seasonal vegan varieties based on local resources. We’re certainly keeping our eyes peeled for plant-based summer sweets! To place special orders, email the team at firstname.lastname@example.org and request an order form.
Don’t just take our word for it—check out the sweet testimonials and reviews on their site. Take it a step further and check out the cool pops on the block by placing a vegan cupcake order and savor in the local sweetness.
Layla's Cool Pops is located at 1336 Portage St, Kalamazoo, Michigan.
