SoCal artisanal ice creamery—Rori’s—launched two new vegan flavors for April. The limited-time offerings include Vegan Chocolate Orange (made from citrus sourced from Ojai and dark chocolate) and Vegan Lemon Freckles featuring a lemony oat base and sprinkles mixed throughout. In lieu of its standard coconut milk base, founder Rori Trovato decided to partner with Eclipse Foods to use its oat milk base.
Trovato explained, “I chose Eclipse for many reasons. Number one and two are because Eclipse uses ingredients with integrity that I believe in, and it tastes fantastic! I have always used coconut milk for my base because I love the taste and product. But I am confined by the undernotes of the coconut flavor so I tend to always pair it with tropical flavors [like the permanent vegan flavors, Tropical Wild Berry and Passionfruit]. But with Eclipse, it has very little undernotes other than a hint of oat milk so I have more freedom with my flavor selection.”
Any scoop—vegan or otherwise—can be ordered in a cup or vegan waffle cone.
The dairy-based micro-chain and pint supplier boasts six scoop shops in greater Southern California ranging from Santa Barbara to Long Beach. The pints can also be found in a number of grocery stores.
The new flavors will be available through the end of April. For vegan flavor updates, follow Rori’s on Instagram (@roriscreamery).
