This plant-based Latin concept will offer sandwiches, tacos, bowls, and more!

This month, a new vegan Latin restaurant is opening in Atlanta. The owner, Mikail Ali, had originally launched his restaurant—Papi Ali’s—as a food truck in early 2020. Now, Ali is opening a brick-and-mortar version of the restaurant that will make its debut on October 15.

Inspiration from Atlanta’s Bar Mercado

Ali drew inspiration for the restaurant while working at Atlanta’s Bar Mercado under the direction of executive chef Raul Dominguez. While developing the menu, Ali wanted to focus on the classic and bold flavors of Latin cuisine.

In addition to serving a fully plant-based menu, Papi Ali’s will use compostable cups and bowls that will be placed in compost dumpsters after use. Local residents will also be encouraged to use the compost dumpsters for their own personal compostables.

Papi Ali’s Latin-Style Sandwiches, Bowls, Wraps, Tacos, and More

The interior of the counter-service restaurant features a bright and inviting aesthetic and offers about 20 seats inside, as well as outdoor seating. Papi Ali’s menu includes Latin-style sandwiches, bowls, wraps, tacos, and more. Guests can feast on dishes like chorizo tortas (mushroom chorizo, roasted veggies, tomato, lettuce, garlic aioli, and roasted red pepper crema), empanadas stuffed with corn and potato (roasted veggie and chorizo varieties are also available), and Papi’s bowl (chorizo, sofrito brown rice, black beans, red pepper crema, plantains, slaw, avocado, and roasted veggies). Drink options include fresh juices in Ginger Mango-Berry, Cucumber Dream, and Pleasing Papaya flavors, as well as smoothies. Ali also plans to get a beer license in order to sell hard kombucha in the future.

Papi Ali’s is located at 2323 Main Street, Tucker, GA 30084. The restaurant will initially offer indoor and outdoor seating as well as takeout, with plans to offer delivery and catering in the coming months. For all of the latest details on the opening, visit papialis.square.site.
