Mud Pie Stand Vegan Bakery Opens in Sacramento
It can be difficult to find delicious vegan pastries in your neighborhood, but Sacramentans look no further—Mud Pie Stand Vegan Bakery is the place to be, not only offering a diverse menu of sweet treats, but a myriad of savory specials as well.
Originally touring Sacramento in a funky blue Volkswagen van, Mud Pie Stand Vegan Bakery—by popular demand—has found its way into a brick-and-mortar location. Located on 14th street, the bakery just had its soft launch in early June and is going strong, presenting a changing variety of both savory lunch options and sweet pastries. Owners Sal and Deanya have backgrounds in the culinary arts and pastry making, respectively, and opened Mud Pie Stand as an homage to Deanya’s mother and the pair’s passion for vegan cooking.
Maple Pecan Scones, Cookies & Cream Cupcakes, Almond Croissants, and More
The love and dedication put into each pastry shows. Offering online pre-orders and walk-in service, Mud Pie Stand has something for everyone—with baked goods ranging from cupcakes to croissants. Current pastry specialties include Maple Pecan Scones, Cookies & Cream Cupcakes, Almond Croissants, and Snickerdoodle cookies, to name a few. Rotating Menu of Savory Selections
Not only does Mud Pie Stand offer some top-notch pastries, but they have a rotating menu of savory selections as well. Be sure to check out their Instagram (@mudpiestand) to see what they’re currently serving. Items on previous menus have included a Marinated “Steak” Sandwich—No Moo vegan steak tenders tossed with mixed greens and vegetables, topped with a zesty tomato dressing and spicy pepitas—and a gourmet Chorizo Mac and Cheese—a delicious classic, topped with panko and house-made chorizo crumbles for that extra kick! If you’re still hungry, you can treat yourself to a dessert or two off of their rotating dessert special menu which has included treats like a Lazy Sundae Croissant Cream Puff and a Lemon Pull-Apart Bread. With a diversity of flavorful selections, it’s safe to say that you’ll leave Mud Pie Stand feeling stuffed and satisfied.
The bakery can be found at 1430 14th street, Sacramento, CA 95814. With soft operational hours of Wednesday-Saturday from 10am-3pm, you can stop by for an afternoon pick-me-up and purchase a pastry or two.
