Dairy alternative brand Miyoko’s Creamery will be distributing over 1,500 vegan grilled cheese sandwiches per week to hospital workers and those in need during the coronavirus pandemic.
The company has postponed its national food truck tour and is instead using its truck to provide free meals for those most affected by COVID-19. They will first stop at three hospitals in Sonoma County, California, along with several food banks in the area.
"Repurposing our food truck is the least we can do for our heroes on the front line and people who are now struggling in our communities,” Miyoko's Creamery founder and CEO Miyoko Schinner said. “While bringing cheese crafted from plants to consumers is about creating a more compassionate food system, compassion also extends to how we treat each other day in and day out.”
All food they distribute will be prepared remotely and safely delivered to a pick up point for distribution.
