Foodie favorite, Detroit Vegan Soul, beat out its omnivorous competition and was named #1 Soul Food Restaurant for the second year in a row in Hour Detroit’s Best of Detroit 2020 awards.

The Detroit eatery started its journey in 2012. DVS now has two locations to visit and a menu rich in plant-based deliciousness. The soul food restaurant is not only fully vegan, but menu items are free of GMOs, additives, preservatives, refined flours, and sugars. The eco-friendly biz incorporates seasonal foods and sustainable practice all the while serving up great-tasting dishes.

This is a “let’s order a few things and share” type of place, but if we had to pick one dish to try, it hands down would be the Soul Platter. Loaded with mac ‘n’ cheese, smoked collard greens, maple glazed yams, black-eyed peas, and a cornbread muffin, it is the epitome of vegan comfort food. You will also find dishes like Okra Stew, Cesar Salad, Almond Tempeh, and rotational desserts.

At this time, DVS is operating with limited hours and offering popular dishes for curbside pickup only, but remains eager to serve it’s soulful patrons for dine-in service soon.
