Cafe Gratitude just announced that they’ve renamed their signature Grateful Bowl to the Black Lives Matter Bowl. The dish is composed of kale, black beans, and garlic tahini with your choice of brown rice, quinoa, or a mix of the two. All profits from the Black Lives Matter Bowl will be donated to Black Lives Matter Los Angeles, NAACP, Fair Fight Action, and Equal Justice Initiative.

Cafe Gratitude shared their reasoning behind this update via Instagram this past week. They stated, “We have always believed that affirming positive words helps to shift our lives, and move us from our head into our hearts. By having thousands of people order this dish by affirming Black Lives Matter, we hope to keep this message of the movement on the minds of our guests and staff.”

Although their restaurants are still closed, Cafe Gratitude announced plans to reopen in the next coming days and weeks, which is when you will be able to order this new menu item. The Venice location opens Tuesday, June 16th and the Larchmont location opens Thursday, June 18th. (For takeout and delivery only until further notice). The reopening dates for the Arts District and San Diego locations have yet to be announced.
