The vegan pop-up gaining popularity will land permanently in Union Square.
Summer in Somerville just got better! On the rise since first appearing in 2017, the Boston vegan pop-up Littleburg is set to plant roots in Union Square in Somerville, Massachusetts this summer. After surpassing their $15,000 goal in just over 24 hours via crowdfunding, Littleburg has their eyes set on opening a takeout and prepared meal delivery hub in the area just northwest of Boston in the coming weeks.
Pickup and Delivery Plant-Based Mediterranean-Inspired Cuisine
The permanent space is a 2,000 square foot commercial kitchen, allowing plenty of room for Littleburg’s prepared meal delivery service and takeout too. If the concept continues to grow, the hope is to eventually offer a dining room to host the spot’s loyal guests in person as well. For now, though, the Mediterranean-inspired cuisine featuring Greek, Turkish, Moroccan, and Israeli favorites will operate as a pickup- and delivery-only spot nestled between other Union Square hot spots. LIttleburg shapes its menu items around making vegetables the star, avoiding mock-meats and other vegetarian cooking cliches to bring in a customer base excited by the flavor concepts available within whole food plant-based ingredients.
Littleburg Vegan Menu Favorites
Some current Littleburg vegan menu favorites include hearty sandwiches, like Littleburg’s take on the gyro, pide, mezze, latkes, yuba shawarma, and more. Vegan food is picking up steam in the Boston area, but it’s still a scarce market, with many vegan establishments coming and going in recent years. Littleburg founder Graham Boswell hopes to change this, with all scratch-made ingredients, risk-taking concepts, and a takeout and delivery system that allows the business to cast a wide net, bringing in new customers each week.
Final permits and inspections are being finalized in the coming weeks, and Littleburg hopes to open soon after. For the current delivery menu and opening updates, check out Littleburg’s website at LittleburgMenu.com or follow the spot on Instagram at @Littleburg_.
