On the heels of Black Restaurant Week San Antonio, Vegan Family Reunion brings 20+ Black-owned businesses together this weekend for a pop-up market in the area.

Naomi Hendrix Oyegoke, owner and head chef of Rooted Vegan Cuisine—a frozen food retailer in Texas—is bringing local businesses back together for some soul-enriching good eats and live music to benefit the community. Vegan Family Reunion will operate out of Cherrity Bar (302 Montana St, San Antonio, TX 78203) on Saturday, March 21 from noon-3pm, and will feature 20+ Black-owned and vegan-friendly eateries, small businesses, artists, and more.

The donation-based event gives back directly to San Antonio and the Black community, benefiting the San Antonio Food Bank, Black Freedom Factory, and Black Outside Inc. In addition to Naomi’s own locally famous lasagna from Rooted Vegan Cuisine, other vendors contributing include Fit Black Vegan, Açaí Eternity Co., Godbody Concepts, HyDryp H20, Mellos Vegan Gumbo, and Weathered Souls Brewing Co. Those attending can participate with in-person raffle prizes, art auctions, and spins on the dance floor (with a live DJ!). Donations are open to anyone, whether you’re in Texas or not.

Despite Texas’s mask mandate lift, the event will operate under CDC protocols, with temperature checks and masks required while not actively dining. For more information on Vegan Family Reunion, follow along on Instagram (@veganfamilyreunion) or purchase tickets to attend here.
