Barnard Medical Center is now offering telehealth appointments through computers or phones, eliminating the need to visit the clinic in person. Residents of California, the District of Columbia, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, New York, and Virginia may consult with caregivers (doctors, nurse practitioners, registered dietitians and more) utilizing telehealth for follow-up visits and urgent concerns (not emergency care).

Dr. Neal Barnard, the president of Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine advocates for preventative medicine, good nutrition, and healthy living focused on a plant-based diet. His research speaks to the correlation between an inadequate diet and chronic diseases (such as type 2 diabetes), as well as the benefits of a plant-based diet in prevention of such chronic diseases.

The Barnard Medical Center’s mission is to provide care and to aid patients in regaining and maintaining their health with innovative methods. Existing patients and new patients can contact 202-527-7500 or send a message through the online patient portal to schedule a telehealth appointment. Medicare is temporarily covering telehealth appointments due to the pandemic, and Medicaid has limitations based on individual plans.
