Sam & Gertie’s, an all-vegan Jewish deli, is now open in Chicago’s Uptown.

Featuring classic deli options such as latkes, smoked “whitefish,” egg’less salad, and chopped pastrami, the establishment is a tribute to co-owner Andy Kalish’s grandparents (Sam & Gertie) and to his childhood spent on Detroit’s Jewish deli and bagel shop scene. Located in the former Longacre pizza spot, the restaurant serves up everything from corned un-beef sandwiches to chik’n salad to chopped “livah.” Claiming to be the “world’s first” all-vegan Jewish deli, this is the spot to visit if you have a craving for both travel and plant-based lox and bagels.

Sam & Gertie’s is located at 1309 W. Wilson Ave. and open Friday 7am-2pm and Saturday & Sunday 8am-2pm.
