8 Vegan-Friendly New Year’s Eve Celebrations in L.A.

Dec 23, 2019 BY: Anna Keeve

Alas, the coming of the new year is upon us. For many, the year’s end signals a time for introspection, reflection and forward-coming resolutions … but first, it’s a time to party. With an abundance of New Year’s Eve celebrations in L.A., how does one choose? We hunted down some of the best vegan-friendly year-end events from fancy sit-down dinners to all-out dance parties. Read on to find the perfect way to usher in 2020.

Vegan AF New Year’s Celebration at Busby’s East

Miracle Mile

To usher in the New Year with fellow vegans and friends over some dope beats, check out the Vegan AF New Year’s Celebration at Busby’s East. Enjoy a special menu with a food takeover from Real Food Daily and Charlie’s Brownies (debuting a new, house-made vegan ice cream served alongside their brownies!). Tickets are $10 (early-bird-special!) until December 24th, and $20 after that. A portion of all proceeds will be going to Chilis on Wheels L.A. (a nonprofit that provides vegan meals to those in need in the Los Angeles area). Food and drinks are available for purchase on-site with an option for a VIP experience, which includes bottle service and other goodies. Attire is cocktail/dress to impress.

Plant Food + Wine

Venice

From a special one-night, 7-course tasting menu, you’ll savor bold-flavored innovations of Chef Matthew Kenney and his team. These all-new items aren’t available on the standard menu, so you and your friends are in for a special treat. The upstairs area at PFW—a test kitchen where six chefs work around the clock to create dishes for all the Matthew Kenney restaurants—is the birthplace of your NYE dinner creations! The cost for the prix fixe menu is $95 with an option to add a wine pairing for $35. Plus, you’ll enjoy a glass of champagne on the house. Once you have your table, it’s yours, for the evening, so take your time and enjoy the carefully curated cuisine. Opt for the back patio if you can; it will be well heated and the Santorini-like ambiance is a beautiful setting to cheers to the New Year. Seats do sell out and reservations in advance are a must.

Beauty & Essex

Hollywood

The TAO Group offers a number of great dinner options and parties at its complex in West Hollywood. The most notable vegan-friendly option is at Beauty & Essex, where old-world charm meets modern glam. They’ll provide a dedicated vegan a la carte menu serving items like Crispy Avocado Sliders, Veggie Meat Balls, and more. (Note this menu is only offered at the 5:30pm and 7pm seatings.) There is also a 9pm, stay-until-midnight seating which comes with a prix fixe, choice-of menu ($175) which includes a complimentary champagne toast. On this prix fixe menu, there are a few vegan items on some sections of the menu. (But if you are in it for the food, go to the earlier seating for more vegan options). Enjoy party favors plus a DJ going throughout the night.

The Highlight Room

Hollywood

For an ultra lux, poolside experience, visit The Highlight Room which boasts 360-degree views of L.A. with comfortable lounge seats and a DJ playing hip hop to set the party mood. The $99 ticket includes entrance fee and open bar from 9pm – 1am. There will also be tray-pass hors d'oeuvres, but don’t count on dedicated vegan options. With the open bar, by that point you’ll be more interested in the drinks anyways! Plus, if you dine at Beauty & Essex before hand, you’ll get 20% off your ticket into The Highlight Room. You can also hit up Luchini Pizzeria in the same TAO complex after or before your partying. They have a vegan pizza option and for $50, pizza is unlimited through the night.

Crossroads

West Hollywood

For a first-class New Year’s dining experience lock down your reservation for the Crossroads Annual New Year’s Bash. They’re offering a 5-course prix fixe menu for $75. If you want to stick around until midnight, make sure to reserve a later seating, this way you can experience the official countdown. They’ll have TVs playing the ball drop and will be giving away party favors along with a complimentary champagne toast.

Skybar at Mondrian Hotel

West Hollywood

For a swanky party, opt for this rooftop event where you can drink, dance, and lounge. At the New Year’s Eve at Skybar at Mondrian Hotel you’ll want to take full advantage of the premium open bar while dancing under the stars. They’ll be playing a mash-up of Top 40, house, and hip hop music. At midnight, grab your glass of bubbly and toast to the New Year. You can purchase individual tickets starting at $125, or go big with a VIP package that includes bottle/table service and a few other perks as well.

Roosevelt Hotel

Hollywood

For a seriously fun all-out party, consider the Roosevelt’s 4th annual Hollywood Classic New Year's Eve 2020. At this event, it’s all about drinks and dancing. With eight different DJs, three music rooms, plus an open bar serving premium drinks, The Roosevelt is the place for a high-energy party. Dress to impress in cocktail or semi-formal attire. Ticket prices start at $149.

NYE Midnight Quantum Light Breathwork + Sound Bath

Santa Monica

For a zen-filled New Year’s Eve, try something different with this meditation event. You’ll be guided through a meditation to help you wash out the old vibes and usher in the soothing new vibes. Relax as Sound Bath Specialist, Diego Wall, guides you through a breathwork process for “accelerated personal transformation” along with a signature sound bath. The event is from 10pm-12:15am. Tickets are $50 and available on Eventbrite.

Vegan Sun-Dried Tomato Mac N Cheez Recipe - VegOut Magazine

Vegan Sun-Dried Tomato Mac N Cheez Recipe

This uber creamy 20-minute vegan mac delivers the tang of sharp cheddar from a surprising source—sun-dried tomatoes! A few basil leaves add complexity to the flavors without making it taste “tomato basil-y.” I like to top it with hemp seeds for a little extra texture and nutrition, but that’s totally optional. Use chickpea or lentil pasta to make this mac ‘n cheez super healthy! Add a side of steamed green beans or broccoli for a complete meal.
