Vegan Chicago-style deep dish pizza can now be delivered to your door! Vegan restaurant Kitchen 17, located in Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood, has expanded delivery due to the COVID-19. According to owner, Jennie Plasterer, Kitchen 17 has begun shipping frozen pizzas to 32 states.
Kitchen 17 is a 100% vegan establishment that serves up comfort food featuring house-made meats, cheeses, and desserts. The pizza joint added the option to order frozen deep dish pizza from their website (kitchen17.com) after the COVID-19 forced dine-in closure of all restaurants in Illinois. The menu includes Cheese, Pepperoni, Traditional, Plant-Eater, and Fully Loaded vegan deep dish pizza that is shipped frozen directly to you. You can choose from a regular or gluten-free crust. Enjoy free shipping when you purchase a 5-pack (regular crust) or a 4-pack (gluten-free crust). Jennie and the staff received a positive response after initially posting the launch of their frozen deep dish pizza delivery service, “We made the initial post at around 3am and when I woke up at 9am, we had sold about 80 pizzas. We sold nearly 250 pizzas in the first week and were delighted to be able to hire back all of our full-time employees”.
Kitchen 17 has been getting great feedback as customers are sending messages and photos of themselves enjoying deep dish pizza from other states. According to Jennie, they hope to expand their offerings to include more flavors, including their popular New York-style and pan pizzas. They have sent out a few frozen Bacon Jalapeno Popper pizzas for trial, which is likely to be the next option to be added for shipping. Additionally, you can now order Kitchen 17 deep dish cookie pies and cakes for local delivery. Soon to come are other vegan goodies such as fudge and handmade chocolate boxes.
