5 Comfy Sustainable Activewear Brands We Love

5 Comfy Sustainable Activewear Brands We Love

Apr 17, 2020 BY: Cat Limket

Push-up challenge, happy baby, and burpee your way to saving the planet with five of the comfiest sustainable workout lines. You’ll be deleting your Facetune app, fighting climate change, and sporting some killer threads all from the comfort of your living room.

Boody

Bamboo isn’t just for pandas or everyone’s favorite decorative plant attempt at a Pinterest-worthy balcony! The green stalks also happen to be the material make up of Boody’s sustainable, organic clothing line. Boody’s Active Collection was created specifically in response to the overwhelming feedback from Boody’s loyal fan base to create an activewear line. The company geniously found a way to organically harvest bamboo from FSC certified forests, dehydrate it into pulp that is later ground into a material so feathery soft, you won’t even feel it while you pump some iron. In addition, Boody’s styles are seam-free which results in 20% less fabric waste. The result is a glamorously supple material that your skin, the earth, and your IG feed will love!

Groceries Apparel

Cali born and bred Groceries Apparel is like those golden-haired LA girls you see on IGTV, demonstrating how to compost at home as they sip their hemp seed matcha shakes with effortless cool. Using only 100% nontoxic ingredients like organic cotton, Eucalyptus, recycled plastic, hemp, or recycled cotton, the collection is vegetable-dyed from nature’s best roots, bark, wood, flowers, coconuts, and minerals. Snap into that trikonasana pose knowing your adorable bra and matching legging set supports family farms, fair wages, and localized manufacturing. Groceries is also doing their part in supporting the greater good, selling GMO-free Organic Cotton Face Masks, and for every 3-pack sold, the company goes even further and donates a 10-pack!

Organic Basics

Refusing to compromise for anything less than becoming the Pinky and the Brain of sustainability (try to take over the world, or in this case, to help it), Organic Basics is consistently on the homecoming court of every “Best Sustainable Line” list. With functionality and consistency in mind, the activewear and essentials line upholds the highest level of craftsmanship while pioneering the fight against climate change. The company accomplishes this in their partnership with CHOOOSE, an organization that supports businesses in becoming carbon balanced by investing in UN-verified or Gold Standard CO2-lowering projects in developing countries. Pulverize that squat challenge in these Portugal manufactured shorts knowing you’re doing right by the planet and that peach!

Alternative Apparel

Alternative Apparel is the kind of good alternative like the best years of Avril Lavigne or turning aquafaba into literally anything. The company uses out-of-the-box, eco-friendly practices starting with the fact that 80% of their garments are made from recycled fibers resulting in modern, timeless silhouettes that every woke world-loving lady and lad will love. With a womens, mens, and unisex line available in numerous prints like camo, bright purple, and the perfect shade of pea green, you can do an outfit change Tik Tok to your heart’s content. In addition, the AA squad is helping out the global community during this time, dedicating a large amount of manufacturing capacity to creating urgently needed face masks in the U.S.

Pact

Fair trade certified and made with 89% organic cotton, Pact’s range of leggings, tops, hoodies, sport bras, socks, and undies are all ridiculously breathable with almost skin soft material that even Buffalo Bill would wear. The results are an increased durability and a stretch that moves with you. The Boulder, Colorado brand makes the perfect work-to-play clothing stylish and long-lasting to take you from the couch to the kitchen to your living room workout. Make room for your new sweat sesh threads with Pact’s clothing donation program which allows you to deliver any of your gently used clothing items (no matter the brand), and they will find your old duds a new home at an inspiring nonprofit. Take comfort in Pact’s “doing more-with-less is more” mentality, and do the best thing for yourself and the planet.

Compton Vegan Cares Initiative to Bring Food and Supplies to 200 Residents in Need

Lemel Durrah, chef and owner of Compton Vegan, has launched a new charity effort to meet the needs of his restaurant’s namesake community. Coined the Compton Vegan Cares Initiative, the program will provide essentials to two hundred Compton residents in need during this uncertain time. Each recipient will receive a Compton vegan meal, a disposable protective face mask, a roll of toilet paper and paper towels, and a case of water. Durrah says this is his small way of giving back to the community that inspired his business. He is funding the initiative by selling Compton Vegan t-shirts which can be purchased online for $10.
