10 Places to Get Vegan Ramen in Los Angeles

10 Places to Get Vegan Ramen in Los Angeles

Mar 8, 2020 BY: Anja Grommons

We’re dishing up deets on 10 of LA’s vegan-friendly ramen joints. While traditional Japanese ramen is often made with a meat- or fish-based broth, vegan-friendly ramen shops are popping up all over. These restaurants are serving up inventive, plant-based ramen that is tasty and satisfying without the cruelty. Check out our favorite places to find vegan ramen in LA.

Jinya Ramen Bar

Multiple Locations

According to those at JINYA, ramen isn’t about the noodles, it’s about the broth. The ramen bar offers two brothy vegan creations: Flying Vegan Harvest and Spicy Creamy Vegan Ramen. Dare to taste all the vegan deliciousness? The restaurant also offers rice bowls, buns, and Japanese-inspired tacos.

Silver Lake Ramen

Multiple Locations

We’re loving The Veggie-Vegetarian Ramen Bowl offered at Silverlake. Made with a miso vegetable broth, bean sprouts, tofu, avocado, and a rainbow of veggies, how could we not? The easy-to-navigate menu makes ordering vegan style so easy—just look for the green leaves.

Japanese-inspired restaurant, Yamashiro, sources creatively-plated dishes of great variety. Try Takako’s Vegan Ramen for a modern take on a traditional classic or opt for one of the many other veganizable broth-based noodle delicacies, veggie sushi, or salads.

Multiple Locations

With flavors straight from Japan, Rakkan Ramen features many ramen dishes rich in umami, the sixth element of taste. All broths at this ramen bar are plant-based, making it easy to choose a vegan variety. We’re loving the creamy Quartz Ramen Bowl but all vegan ramen bowls are star performers in our eyes!

Ramen Hood

This all-vegan ramen shop offers two versions of ramen, both spicy and not, plus many tasty sides to enjoy. Both ramen bowls begin with a broth of simmered kelp and shiitake, roasted sunflower seeds, and white miso. What really stands out at Ramen Hood is the vegan egg. Yup, you read that right. The yolk even pops like the real thing.

Tatsu Ramen

Sawtelle and Melrose

Many vegan creations are possible at Tatsu as all of the ramen bowls are customizable. If you want a straightforward vegan option go for the Hippie Ramen. This dish begins with an onion, soy, and ginger broth and is topped with spinach and tofu. Vegan extras include corn, garlic, seaweed, green onions, and mushrooms. When they say “ramen with a soul,” they aren’t kidding.

Slurpin' Ramen Bar

Koreatown Not only can you create your own ramen, but you can order it to-go for those nights when a hot cup of soup on the couch sounds just right. Slurpin’ offers vegan broth and noodles in addition to many veggie toppings like bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, jalapenos, and tofu.

Gokoku Vegetarian Ramen Shop

Studio City

The vegan options are endless at this meat-free, dairy-free ramen shop. The ramen base consists of baby bok choy, jicama, and mushroom, but multiple variations are offered. We’re loving the Curry Ramen and Pineapple Kale varieties.

Urban Ramen

Multiple vegan options are offered at Urban Ramen including Maitake Shoyu Ramen, Spicy Vegan Ramen, and Vegan Tantan Men. The latter features spicy soy meat in a sesame broth with noodles and vegetables. Veggie sushi and other plant-based dishes can also be found here.

Culver City and DTLA

In addition to the amazing vegan sushi, Shojin offers several plant-centered ramen bowls. We’re all about the Ramen Revolution with spicy miso broth and mushroom “beef.” Many ramen toppings can also be added, like soy “chicken” and vegan “egg.”
