California Pizza Kitchen Debuts Vegan Chicken

Oct 29, 2020 BY: Cayla White

2020 has been a lot of things, including the year for plant-based chicken substitutes! With vegan mock chicken options rolling out at El Pollo Loco, KFC, and even Burger Kings in Germany, California Pizza Kitchen has followed suit. Made from vegetables and wheat, CPK’s chicken substitute is a great option for people seeking to lower their meat consumption, and for vegans who are looking for a quality option at a large chain restaurant.

The plant-based protein is featured on CPK’s “BBQ Don’t Call Me Chicken” pizza. While the pie is not vegan as is—it still has dairy-based cheese and non-vegan sauce—the chicken can be added to any pizza or salad, so feel free to get creative with your order! Both the Pizza Marinara and the Spicy Marinara sauces are vegan, and aside from the cauliflower crust, all the crusts are vegan as well, so there are plenty of ways to order a vegan entrée. Our suggestion? Order the Wild Mushroom Pizza, ask for no cheese and add the vegan chicken and a side of marinara for dipping. Don’t forget to tag us in your posts on Instagram!
