10 Vegan Seafood Brands to Check Out
Check out our catch of the day!
Dredging the ocean for tonight’s dinner is so last decade! With fish sticks, crab cakes, salmon, tuna, and even caviar available in a vegan version, there’s no excuse for not going vegan because you’ll miss fish. Read on to discover vegan seafood brands that offer plant-based products that taste like, cook like, and share the same textures as their traditional counterparts.
To start off, we’re reeling in some gluten-free vegan seafood from Current Foods. Free of the top 8 allergens and rich in omega-3 fatty acids, iron, and vitamin B12, this tuna and salmon is sushi-grade and comes in flavors like roasted sesame, ginger tamarind, original smoked, and smoked black pepper.
Grab the vegan tartar sauce, because Gardein’s serving up their Mini Cr’b Cakes and F’sh Filets! These kosher seafood taste-alikes are rich in omega-3s and come free of cholesterol. Fish and chips, anyone?
In the mood for a fish sandwich? Head to Good Catch for their Salmon or Fish Burgers. As for us, we’re torn between the New England Style or Breaded Crab Cakes. Or should we all just recreate retro school lunch memories and enjoy some Breaded Fish Sticks with crinkle-cut fries?
Dining out? Look for New Wave’s vegan shrimp. Sustainably sourced seaweed and mung bean give this vegan seafood its authentic taste and protein base. The kosher, gluten-free product is also available at other away-from-home venues.
Coming in at 14g of protein is Jinka’s Plant-Based Tuna. You’ll find it in Original, Spicy, and Lemon & Dill. Rich in omega-3s and with 0g cholesterol, this conveniently packaged vegan seafood is just what you need for that tuna salad sandwich!
If you like your raw tuna and freshwater eel made from plants, then Ocean Hugger is for you! On a quest to create more sustainable seafood, eliminate the destruction of bycatch, and protect our oceans, the brand offers their Ahimi (vegan tuna) and Unami (vegan eel) to provide an alternative to the traditional destructive fishing industry.
Sophie’s Kitchen offers a selection to fit all of your vegan seafood needs. Whether you’re looking for a Mediterranean Whitefish Burger or Miso Salmon Burger or some Breaded Shrimp, Crab Cakes, and Fish Fillets, they’ve got those and more!
Calamari, tuna and salmon sashimi, shrimp, and ribbonfish are just the starting lineup. Be Leaf’s products are non-GMO and free of preservatives, helping you in your efforts to be kind to the planet, one BeLeaf Fish Fillet at a time.
Feeling fancy? Avafina offers vegan caviar with their Qummus line, which contains quinoa as its main ingredient. Their Chiaviar is a chia-based spread that’s raw, gluten-free, and organic. With seaweed and lemon for added flavor, it provides an omega 3-rich experience packed with vitamins, minerals, and micronutrients.
Level up your tuna experience with Loma Linda’s Tuno! Available in Lemon Pepper and Thai Sweet Chili, as well as Spring Water, these little cans offer a non-GMO, gluten-free, ocean-safe lunch or dinner alternative.

Tofu Tikkā Recipe
Tikkā is a northern Indian dish involving marinated protein or vegetables cooked in a tandoor, or clay oven. My version is made with marinated tofu baked on skewers in a conventional oven to mimic the traditional cooking vessel, which adds a char and smokiness to the dish. Using smoked paprika further pays tribute to the traditional cooking technique. This tikkā is best served hot with cooling mint chutneys and is delicious in lettuce wraps as well. For lettuce wraps, dice the tofu and vegetables into smaller pieces after cooking and fill the lettuce leaves just before serving.
