The Cultured Pickle Shop

Lovers of The Cultured Pickle Shop’s weekend Rice & Pickle Bowls can still pick up a bowl at the shop’s West Berkeley location. Each bowl is topped with a variety of greens and fermented vegetables that change weekly. Reserve a bowl for pickup ahead of time by phone call or email. They only make a certain number of bowls each Saturday and Sunday, so definitely contact them in advance!

Think “vegan” around Downtown Oakland, and Spices 3 comes to mind. The crowd favorites Silky Tofu Bowl with Flaming Red Oil with its cubes of delicate tofu and Fried Tofu with Explosive Chili Pepper will fire up your taste buds and may leave you with some beads of sweat. Call to pick up a few dishes, or order for delivery as most of their items are very travel friendly.

Fans of S+M Vegan have been cheering with joy as the pop-up continues to offer its Singaporean and Italian-influenced flavors for pickup by pre-ordering on their website. Don’t miss the Shaobing Sandwich stuffed between two thick slabs of sesame-crusted flatbread with a changing combo of fillings each time, from mapo tofu and rice cakes to Sichuan pepper-corned seitan and potato chips. Welcoming the new decade with its debut, Malibu’s Burgers throws Impossible 2.0 patties on the grill of its food truck (check their social for updates where they will be parked next) and dresses them up with additions such as “bacon,” caramelized onion, and “lizard sauce” as featured on the Needy Meaty Burger. ‘Nuff said. We’ll take one ASAP, please.

Plate Craft Catering

Catering business turned local meal delivery service, Plate Craft Catering is currently offering the community meals from their kitchen that are ready to reheat throughout the week, including some freezer-friendly items like the Thai Coconut Veggie Curry and Carrot Ginger Soup. Delivery is on Saturdays. Make sure to check their website for their current delivery area. While ordering on their website, consider selecting the option to donate a meal to someone in need.

DiLac Vegetarian Cuisine

For those times when only a big bowl of noodle soup can warm your spirit, vegan phở (vietnamese noodle soup) awaits you at DiLac Vegetarian Cuisine, one of the longest standing vegan Vietnamese restaurants in the area. Don’t let the name fool you. Everything is vegan! If you’re looking for something different, the underrated Chicken Curry Vermicelli Soup made with a coconut-milk based curry is the perfect introduction to the Vietnamese way of eating curry.
