Planning a virtual happy hour with your co-workers, or looking to order margaritas for your Cinco de Mayo fiesta? We’ve got you covered! Although some businesses in NYC have made the decision to close up shop at this time, many local bars and restaurants still remain open and are ready to bring the boozy beverages to you. Here are 9 spots to order alcohol in NYC—cheers!
Flagship
Staten Island
Located a few blocks away from the Staten Island Ferry, Flagship Brewing Company is putting the forgotten borough on the map in the world of craft beers. Since opening its doors in May 2014, the brewery has procured more than 30 area bars and restaurants to carry Flagship, and has since expanded beer sales throughout NYC. In addition to being some of the best beer in town, many of Flagship’s tasty brews are also vegan-friendly! The crisp and light Pastime Summer Ale is the newest addition to the brewery’s menu and will pair perfectly with a fresh veggie pie. However, if you like your beers bold and fruity, the Blood Orange IPA will be your new best friend. The company also plans to release flavored hard seltzers in collaboration with Staten Island’s iconic Ralph’s Ices sometime in May, so be sure to keep a close eye on their Instagram @flagshipbrewery for updates! Delivery orders on Staten Island can be placed Mon-Sun from 12pm-4pm, and they’ve also recently expanded their services to Brooklyn (Tuesdays) and Manhattan (Wednesdays). Orders can be placed through the brewery’s website.
Pine Box Rock Shop
Brooklyn
This couple-owned vegan bar has your virtual happy hour covered as they are currently offering growlers, cocktails, wine, and more. Plan a beach party at home with the Rockaway Peach White Sangria, or channel your inner Loretta Lynn with a Double Champagne Sloe Gin Fizz—if that ain’t love, then tell me what is? The menu is posted on the bar’s Facebook page and Instagram @pineboxrockshop, and orders can be placed for delivery or pickup via Venmo. Pine Box is also hosting special trivia nights through Facebook live, so be sure to check out their social media for updates!
Avant Garden
Manhattan
Put on your fancy pajamas and cozy up with a meal and a glass of wine from Avant Garden. This upscale vegan eatery offers a 1 Bottle Wine Pairing, in which the ingenious minds behind your favorite plant-based dishes will select a wine that pairs perfectly with the food items you choose for dinner. Just leave a note with your preference of red, white, sparkling, rosé, or orange, and they will make it happen! Three-pack wine bundles are also available, so you can stock up on your favorites without having to leave your couch. Now, if good ol’ fashioned gin and rye is more your speed, go for the Sharpie Mustache cocktail, a blend of meletti, bonal, rye, gin, and tiki bitters. Both food and drink orders can be placed for pickup or delivery via Caviar.
Burrito Bar
Staten Island
Located inside a converted house, this cozy spot serves Mexican fare as well as a variety of beer, wine, and cocktails. Plan a date night with your sweetie and order the Mexican Love Child, the bar’s signature frozen margarita, served with an upside down baby corona. If you appreciate modern art and are a bit of a rebel, you might like Frida’s Revenge, which blends Yellow Rose Outlaw bourbon, hibiscus, pomegranate, and fresh watermelon. Vegetarian food options like the delicious Veggie Fajitas and the Grazin’ in the Grass burrito are also available, but be sure to request no cheese and no sour cream to make these dishes vegan. Orders for delivery and curbside pickup can be placed through Burrito Bar’s website or by calling them directly.
Honeybee’s
Manhattan
This all-vegan saloon is keeping the spirit of the Wild West alive in Manhattan’s Lower East side, as they offer a variety of whiskey cocktails, bourbon, wine, and other spirits. Step back in time to the period of cowboys and outlaws with a Fresh Homemade Lemonade served with ginger and Jim Beam Pre-Prohibition Rye Whiskey. If you’re team tequila, order the Di Pompelmo, a refreshing cocktail mixed with hopped grapefruit bitters, Citron Sauvage, Aperol, Cocchi Americano, and Tequila Blanco. Honeybee’s is currently taking delivery orders Monday-Tuesday (minimum order $100) via Instagram through their sister bar @amoryamargo, and pickup is also available (no minimum) in front of Mother of Pearl Friday-Sunday.
Spicy Moon
Manhattan
Spicy Moon serves Szechuan food and drinks with a twist—it’s all vegan! Que up your favorite Netflix series and order a heaping bowl of Vegetable Ramen, which pairs perfectly with a Master Gao Jasmine Tea Lager. Plum Wine, Sake, Grape Soju, Yanjing Beer, and Sapporo are also available. The restaurant is currently taking orders for delivery and pickup from their West Village location through GrubHub, delivery.com, Caviar, and Doordash.
Ho’Brah
Brooklyn & Staten Island
A favorite among Staten Islanders and Bay Ridge locals alike, this Mexicali taco joint offers a variety of margaritas, cocktails, and sangrias. Throw an at-home Cinco de Mayo party with a Pineapple Ginger Margarita on the rocks, and order The Veggie tacos made with char-grilled asparagus, black beans, Cali cole slaw, roasted corn, and salsa rojo (hold the avocado crema). We like to spice things up with a frozen Jalapeno Margarita and the Mission Bay Burrito, which comes packed with jasmine rice, black beans, pico, and guacamole (be sure to hold the cheese and crema). Orders for pickup and delivery can be placed through the restaurant website.
Monks Meats
Brooklyn
You may recognize this vegan smokehouse from the Vegan Food and Drink festival hosted annually on Randall’s Island. Inspired by traditional BBQ techniques, everything at Monks Meats is plant-based and dairy-free. But did you know you can also order boozy beverages to go with your Smoked BBQ Seitan? That’s right, in partnership with Brooklyn’s Starr Bar, this vegan eatery is also delivering alcohol such as beer (gluten-free option available) and wine by the bottle. Throwing a virtual Memorial Day bash with your friends? Jazz it up with the Chimichurri Seitan Ribs and a cold, crisp Tecate. Monk Meats is currently offering delivery to Manhattan, Brooklyn, and parts of Queens, but may also be able to deliver to other parts of NYC on a case by case basis. Orders can be placed through their prepared food shop, which can be found on monkmeats.com. Alcohol and hot meals can also be ordered via Grubhub and Seamless Monday-Friday, however this option is only available within Monk Meats regular local delivery range.
Hop Shoppe
Staten Island
Voted one of the best beer bars in NYC, the Hop Shoppe is where locals get their taste of beers, custom and classic cocktails, and delicious flavor packed eats. Order Flagship Brewery’s Pizza Rat Pilsner, or choose from fun cocktails like the Teenage Dream, made with Del Maguey Vida mezcal, cointreau, watermelon, fresh lime juice, organic agave, chili, and a sugar rim. If you like your drinks sweet and simple, go for the Black Bird, which blends Firefly sweet tea vodka, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup, fresh mint, and blackberries. Hop Shoppe also offers a few veg-friendly bites, so be sure to check out the food menu—Screamin’ Black Bean Burger, anyone? Orders can be placed through the restaurant website or by calling them directly.
