Lightlife
Meat alternative company Lightlife offers two different vegan and non-GMO bacon products. Their organic Smoky Tempeh Strips aka tempeh bacon features a savory, yet sweet flavor, well capturing the essence of traditional bacon. It packs 18g of protein per serving, and can be baked, steamed, fried, etc. Their Smart Bacon—which can be cooked in a skillet or in the oven—is their other alternative, which brings the crispy texture and smoky taste you’d expect in a slice.
Sweet Earth Enlightened Foods
Meatless brand Sweet Earth offers skillet-ready, non-GMO Hickory & Sage Benevolent Bacon. With a base consisting of wheat, adzuki beans, and buckwheat groats, as well as flavorings of hickory smoke, sage, and other spices, the resulting cooked slices of vegan bacon can be described as “smoky, saucy, savory.” It has 10g of protein per serving.
Tofurky
While mainly known for their vegan Thanksgiving turkey alternative, Tofurky actually stocks a full 100% vegan lineup of many other meat alternatives, including their non-GMO Smoky Maple Bacon Marinated Tempeh Strips. The strips contain 13g of protein per serving and are considered a good source of fiber. The brand suggests stovetop cooking the product.
Upton’s Naturals
Upton’s Naturals is an independent and vegan-owned company specializing in all-vegan meatless meats. Their take on vegan bacon is their non-GMO Bacon Seitan. With 15g of protein per serving, this smoky-flavored seitan can be baked or pan fried to individual taste. Also, it’s oil-free!
Cool Foods
Cool Foods is a plant-based food company available online. Their version of vegan bacon is their Hickory Smoked Veggie Bacon Topper. These minimally-processed, vegan bacon bits are pinto-bean based, along with being gluten-free, soy-free, and non-GMO.
