12 Spots for Vegan 4th of July Food in Los Angeles

Nothing says freedom like fireworks, fun, and good food! Celebrate your Fourth of July by fueling up with these vegan all-American classics around LA! From entrees and side dishes to refreshing drinks and desserts, we’ve got you covered for the whole day, week, and even the whole month!

Cinnaholic

Multiple Locations

Experience a sweet start to your day with a classic cinnamon roll from Cinnaholic! You get the freedom to design it yourself, topping it to your tastebuds’ liking. If you’re feeling festive, decorate it red, white and blue with marshmallows, blueberries, and raspberry jam! It is the most important meal of the day after all!

SunCafe

Studio City

Load up for your day in the sun with brunch at SunCafe! On the Fourth, you can stop by from 11-4 to try their July special, roasted mango pizza. A fruity summertime twist on the classic grub!

PBJ.LA

Downtown LA

Ah yes, the O.G. American childhood favorite—the peanut butter and jelly sandwich! Take a trip down memory lane to Grand Central Market and try PBJLA’s rad rendition of the nostalgic dish! On July 4th, get their classic sandwich, the Old School, for just $4! It’s classic peanut butter with your choice of strawberry jam, grape jam, or marshmallow fluff.

Beelman’s

Downtown LA

Are peanut butter and jelly sandwiches not your jam? Then head to Beelman’s to get your burger on! They have a few options on the menu, but to keep it traditional, order the Impossible burger. This beauty has Impossible meat, chipotle aioli, tomato, greens, spicy ketchup, and pickles hugged by a brioche bun! You can’t go wrong with that!

Organix

Eagle Rock

If you want to stray from the burger route but are still craving a cookout classic, stop by Organix for a hot dog! Their gourmet vegan dog has beer brat sausage,Veganaise, mustard, ketchup, grilled onions, and bell peppers with the option to add kraut or bacon on top! While you’re there, grab a few items from their marketplace to take home for your own cookout! They have limited hours on the 4th so call to make sure they’re open before you stop by!

Counterpart Deli

Echo Park

How about a refreshing side dish to fuel up after a dip in the pool? Counterpart Deli offers many classic sides for you to choose from including purple coleslaw, jackfruit ‘chicken’ salad, chimichurri pasta salad, and potato salad!

Gracias Madre

West Hollywood

Corn on the cob makes for the perfect all-American meal add-on! Take it to the next level by hitting up this high-end West Hollywood spot to try their street corn with chipotle aioli, pumpkin seed parmesan, and a squeeze of lemon. Wash it down with one of their fresh teas or cocktails!

Compton Vegan

Pop-up and Delivery

Want to host a Fourth of July cookout with the freedom of not having to cook it yourself? No worries! Compton Vegan has your back with Party Packs of their Ribz Plate! For just $75 you can load up on ribz, mac ‘n’ cheese, beans, collard greens and cornbread to feed five! They will be taking preorders until Wednesday to be picked up or delivered on Thursday. Send those invites and get your preorders in!

Lemonade

Multiple Locations

Quench your thirst with a mouthwatering lemonade from this vegan-friendly spot! From classic lemonade to more unique flavors like peach ginger, watermelon, cucumber mint, and more, there’s something for everyone! We recommend the watermelon flavor because nothing says the Fourth of July quite like juicy watermelon! Pair it with some of their vegan eats like curried cauliflower or red quinoa with Fuji apples, but make sure to get there by 7 pm as they’re closing early!

The Karma Baker

Westlake Village

If you’re looking for a fresh and fruity dessert to bring to your pool party, stop by the Karma Baker and pick up a cream fruit tart or strawberry cheesecake! The tart is filled with lemony vegan mascarpone cheese and festively decorated with red and blue assorted berries. As for the cheesecake, that one speaks for itself! But wait, there’s more! They are offering a special discount to VegOut followers!

Mohawk Bend

Echo Park

Finish off your Fourth by indulging in s’mores at Mohawk Bend! Their Happy Camper S’mores consists of house-made graham crackers, toasted marshmallows, and chocolate sauce! It makes for the perfect post-firework show dessert!

Powerplant Superfood Cafe

Mid-Wilshire

Calling all animal lovers: If you are looking for a new addition to your family and decide to rescue a dog from a city or county shelter during the week of July 4th, Powerplant Superfood Cafe will thank you for your kind act by awarding you a free meal! Summer months are very busy for shelters, so if the time is right for you to adopt a dog, take a trip to your nearby shelter! You can free an animal from euthanasia, celebrate your own freedom for July 4th, and get a free meal all in the same week! The restaurant will be closed July 3rd through 5th but will honor the offer until the end of the month. The PowerMac would be the perfect all-American menu item! It’s their take on a Big Mac, but gluten-free and vegan of course!

Tofu Tikkā Recipe

Tikkā is a northern Indian dish involving marinated protein or vegetables cooked in a tandoor, or clay oven. My version is made with marinated tofu baked on skewers in a conventional oven to mimic the traditional cooking vessel, which adds a char and smokiness to the dish. Using smoked paprika further pays tribute to the traditional cooking technique. This tikkā is best served hot with cooling mint chutneys and is delicious in lettuce wraps as well. For lettuce wraps, dice the tofu and vegetables into smaller pieces after cooking and fill the lettuce leaves just before serving.
