Pop-ups and food trucks are slowly taking over the food industry, making dine-in restaurants a thing of the past. What’s next? Who knows! But for now, try out secret menu items to take things to the next level. We’re catching these rare pop-up menu items like it’s the new Pokémon go!

Eat Love

This food truck is taking the vegan scene by storm, but what’s their secret? We heard through the grapevine that you can add chick’n to French toast or ask for a French toast sandwich. Why choose between sweet and savory when you can have both! Fun fact: When the fan favorite (chick’n and waffle) is not on the menu for the day, you can still order it. You just need a side of patience to wait for it to be specially made for you!

Cena Vegan

One of the O.G. vegan pop-ups, Cena Vegan must follow the motto “go big or go home!” When you lock down a table on Tuesdays or Fridays at Highland Park, you can order one of these secret menu items that feeds an army! Serving 6-8 people, the nacho barge is a monstrous pile of chips topped with your choice of meats, refried beans, pico de gallo, salsa, guacamole, chipotle crema, and marinated red onion. If you like your Cena swaddled in a warm tortilla, order the bestia burrito. This beast is a two-foot long burrito with up to four meats, refried beans, rice, pico de gallo, salsa, guacamole, chipotle cashew crema and is finished with lime and marinated red onion garnish. You can try pinching yourself, but this is not a dream!

Avocadamama

On Wednesdays, we order Avocadamama’s special collab menu item with Vegatinos! This beauty includes their taco jalapeño mac with Vegatinos crunchy vegan chicharrón and is topped with pico de gallo, avocado and housemade crema. If you can’t make it then, go on Fridays and order the AvocadaFam Chik’n sam! It’s their small elbow sized OG Mac on VeggieFam’s spicy fried chik’n sandwich. A menu hack you can order any time is their chik’n and waffle mac ‘n’ cheese bowl with whatever flavor of mac you want. Imagine this: A chik’n and waffle bowl filled with buffalo mac and topped with the green onions, blue cheese, buffalo sauce, and maple syrup! Is your mouth watering yet?

VeggieFam

Speaking of VeggieFam, they have some secret menu items of their own! The Kevin special is their zesty waffle fries with house-made nacho cheese, fig marmalade, truffle chili sauce, and truffle-infused crispy onions. The Fry Burger is the Impossible Burger, with melted cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, zesty slaw, lettuce, tomatoes, and wait for it… crispy waffle fries! You can also order loaded waffle fries with house-made nacho cheese, caramelized onions, and zangy sauce. We’ll take 200 of each, please!

Word of Mouth Truck

What’s the word of mouth at this food truck? Adding mac ‘n’ cheese bites to the grilled cheese! You can also order any of the burger setups with different patties like the spicy fried chik’n with their house burger patty. If this is too hot to handle, order the buffalo cauliflower with BBQ sauce in place of buffalo sauce and that should do the trick!

Compton Vegan

Meal prep, catering, pop-ups, deliveries—what doesn’t Compton Vegan do? We know! Well, they do it— you just have to know the code word. The “Youman” is their mac ‘n’ cheese drizzled with buffalo sauce and special Compton vegan ranch. Order this to spice up a comforting classic!

What happens when you order enough of a secret menu item? At Clean South, so many people got the secret half and half wings, (a combination of the two wing flavors,) that they added it to their regular menu permanently. The underdog is victorious! They also usually have a special menu item at each pop-up. Some items from past events include Frito chili pie, a chicken Caesar sandwich, and special wing flavors such as Nashville hot wings, maple habanero, and garlic parmesan with marinara.
