Fala Bar

Your order: Fala Me to Kalefornia

Just by its name, you can tell the Fala Me to Kalefornia at Fala Bar (an all-vegan falafel and salad bar) is a game changer. It’s lemony kale, purple cabbage, quinoa, chickpeas, shredded carrots, sunflower sprouts, micro greens, avocado, hummus, tahini, and a lemon wedge to squeeze on top – so many ingredients that you can’t go wrong with. You can also add your choice of falafels for an extra $3 – choose from original, spicy, crunchy, sweet potato, or kale.

Powerplant Superfood Cafe

Mid-Wilshire

Your order: Good Karma “Tuna” Salad

Fans of tuna salad will want to try out Powerplant’s Good Karma “Tuna” Salad. This is dilled chickpea “tuna salad,” baby kale, pickled red onions, caper paste, and choice of dressing (avocado ginger, thyme vinaigrette, Caesar, or charred lemon/black garlic/mint – all are vegan)

Palette Food + Juice

Atwater Village

Your order: Build-Your-Own Salad/Bowl

If you’re looking for somewhere to make your own salad, you should definitely try out Palette. You can request an unlimited amount of different ingredients in your salad bowl, and see it being assembled right in front of you – make any combination of local greens, grains, beans, roasted and fresh vegetables, fermented fixings (i.e. sauerkraut and pickled red onions), and sauces. You can also add tempeh for $4 extra. Except for the obvious stuff, like proteins beside tempeh and their honey tahini sauce, it’s all vegan.

by CHLOE.

Silver Lake

Your order: Quinoa Taco

You may usually head to by CHLOE for a burger and fries or some of their mac n’ cheese, but next time, try another one of their more popular items, their Quinoa Taco salad. This salad includes chopped romaine, quinoa, spicy seitan chorizo, black beans, sweet corn, avocado, tomato, tortilla strips, and is drizzled with tofu crema and agave-lime vinaigrette. You can add on green hummus, tempeh, avocado, or herbed tofu feta for extra too.

Malibu Farm Pier Café

Malibu

Your order: Vegan Chop

Not only is the Vegan Chop at Malibu Farm Café one of the best salads taste-wise, but also one of the prettiest. The bright pink beets, orange butternut squash, and green kale, romaine, and avocado almost make this salad a work of art (oh and can’t forget about the garbanzo beans). Thought that was pretty enough? If you’re lucky, you’ll also get a cute slice of pink and green watermelon radish on top of it all. It’s like the new cherry on top.

Native Foods

Multiple Locations

Your order: BBQ Chicken Salad

Is BBQ chicken your thing? Then check out the BBQ Chicken Salad at Native Foods. This salad is made up of their BBQ Native chicken, along with seitan bacon, roasted corn, organic black beans, jicama, salsa fresca, romaine, avocado, toasted pepitas, and creamy green goddess dressing. Vegan barbeque? Who knew?

SunCafe

Studio City

The Legendary Kale Colossus salad at all-vegan Suncafe isn’t called legendary for nothing. You can also add on avocado, or tempeh bacon, or (not raw) chorizo for extra. If you like kale a lot, this salad is one for you.

A Vôtre Santé

Brentwood

Your order: Vegetarian Tostada

Although it’s not a vegan restaurant, À Vôtre Santé has a whole vegan menu, on which they have their Vegetarian Tostada. It’s a toasted whole-wheat tortilla (or gluten-free, brown rice tortilla) filled with black bean chili, lettuce, tomato, avocado, and sprouts, and tahini. You can also add organic tofu for $2.95. Because the tortilla is toasted and filled with wholesome ingredients, it’s a perfect alternative to the typically oily, deep-fried tostada.
